Tux Linuxen maskota ofiziala da. 1996an Larry Ewingek sortu zuen, pinguino irrikor bat margotuz. Animalia kernelen sortzailea zen Linus Torvaldsek berak hautatu omen zuen, umea zenean pinguino batek heldu ziolako. Kontatzen den arabera, txikia zenean pinguino batek mokokatu zuen; gainera animalia hauek gustuko ditu. Ez du esanahi konkreturik.
