Shepherds Tree Game Reserve

The Pilanesberg is a mountain in the North West Province, South Africa. The mountain is an ancient volcanic structure, circular in shape, that rises from flat surrounding plains. It is formed by three concentric ridges or rings of hills, of which the outermost has a diameter of about 24 km. The Pilanesberg is located 100 km to the North-West of Pretoria and is for the greater part enclosed in a protected area known as Pilanesberg National Park.

Pilanesberg National Park is one of the main attractions in this region, spanning over 55,000 hectares of land. The park is home to the 'Big Five' - lions, leopards, buffalos, rhinos, and elephants - as well as a range of other animals such as zebras, giraffes, and antelopes. You can experience the park by taking a guided game drive or self-driving through the park at your own pace.

Aside from the national park, Pilanesberg offers a range of other activities. You can take a hot air balloon ride, visit the Sun City resort and enjoy its casinos, water park, and golf courses, or take a guided tour of the nearby Lesedi Cultural Village to learn about the traditional cultures and customs of South Africa.
