Painswick is a town and civil parish in the Stroud District in Gloucestershire, England. Originally the town grew from the wool trade, but it is now best known for its parish church's yew trees and the local Painswick Rococo Garden. The village is mainly constructed of locally quarried Cotswold stone. Many of the buildings feature south-facing attic rooms once used as weavers' workshops.
Nestled in the heart of the Cotswold Hills, Painswick offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside and is known for its quaint and historic architecture. The town is also home to a variety of independent shops, cafes, and restaurants, all offering a unique and authentic experience.
One of the main attractions in Painswick is the St. Mary's Church, which is famous for its 99 yew trees that are said to represent the lost member of the congregation. The church also boasts a beautiful interior and an impressive collection of historic monuments.
