Photos, information and travel guides for your stay.

Stepantsminda is a townlet in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region of north-eastern Georgia. Historically and ethnographically, the town is part of the Khevi province. It is the center of the Kazbegi Municipality.

Stepantsminda, also known as Kazbegi, is located just a few hours from Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, making it an easily accessible destination for tourists. Once you arrive, you'll be greeted by the towering snow-capped peaks of Mount Kazbek, which looms over the town at an impressive 16,558 feet. The mountain is a popular destination for hikers and mountaineers, but even if you're not an experienced climber, you can still enjoy the stunning views by taking a 4x4 tour or hiking to the nearby Gergeti Trinity Church.

In addition to its natural beauty, Stepantsminda is also rich in history and culture. The town was once an important stop on the Silk Road, and you can still see the remnants of ancient fortresses and towers that once guarded the trade route. You can also visit the local museum to learn more about the region's history, or sample traditional Georgian cuisine at one of the town's many restaurants.
