WaKeeney is a city in and the county seat of Trego County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 1,799. The city was established in 1879 and named as a portmanteau of the surnames of its founders, Albert Warren and James Keeney.

WaKeeney may be small, but it has plenty to offer. The town is situated in the heart of the Smoky Hills and is surrounded by beautiful natural scenery.
