Nawalapitiya is a town in Kandy District, Sri Lanka. It is governed by an Urban Council. It is 38 km (24 mi) from Kandy and 112 km (70 mi) from Colombo, at a height of 589 m (1,932 ft) above sea level. It is located on the banks of the Mahaweli Ganga. The area was developed during the colonisation of the island by the British, as one of the colony's centres of Coffee Production.
One of the main attractions in Nawalapitiya is its tea plantations. As you drive through the winding roads, you will be greeted by lush greenery and rolling hills of tea bushes. WE highly recommend taking a guided tour of the tea factory to learn about the process of tea production and sample some of the local blends.
Another must-visit spot in Nawalapitiya is the Devon Falls. This majestic waterfall is situated just a short drive from the town center and offers a breathtaking view of cascading water from a height of 97 meters. You can also take a refreshing dip in the cool waters of the nearby pool.
