Cape Foulwind is a headland on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand, overlooking the Tasman Sea. It is located 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) west of the town of Westport. There is a lighthouse located on a prominent site on the headland. A walkway beginning at the lighthouse carpark traverses the rocky headland to Tauranga Bay and passes close by a colony of New Zealand fur seals. There is limestone quarry in the area, and a cement works operated nearby from 1958 to 2016.
Located on the country's west coast, Cape Foulwind is a rugged and breathtakingly beautiful region that's perfect for nature lovers and adventure seekers. As soon as we arrived, we were struck by the stunning views of the Tasman Sea and the rugged cliffs that surround the area.
One of the highlights of our trip was a visit to the Cape Foulwind Seal Colony, where we got up close and personal with a colony of New Zealand fur seals. Watching these playful creatures frolicking in the waves was an unforgettable experience that we'll never forget.
