The Old Rectory

Buxton is a spa town in the borough of High Peak, Derbyshire, in the East Midlands region of England. It is England's highest market town, sited at some 1,000 feet (300 m) above sea level. It lies close to Cheshire to the west and Staffordshire to the south, on the edge of the Peak District National Park. In 1974, the municipal borough merged with other nearby boroughs, including Glossop, to form the local government district and borough of High Peak.

One of the most notable features of Buxton is its stunning Georgian and Victorian architecture. The town is home to the Grade I listed Buxton Crescent, a magnificent 18th century building that has recently undergone a major refurbishment and now houses a luxury spa hotel. The town also boasts the beautiful Pavilion Gardens, a 23-acre park that is home to a variety of rare plants, as well as an art gallery, restaurant and regular events throughout the year.
