The Shires

Agnes of Rome was a Roman Christian adolescent who was executed for her faith in the 4th century. She is venerated as a virgin martyr and as a saint in the Catholic Church, Oriental Orthodox Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church, as well as the Anglican Communion and Lutheran Churches. She is one of several virgin martyrs commemorated by name in the Canon of the Mass, and one of many Christians martyred during the reign of the Roman emperor Diocletian.

One of the main attractions of St. Agnes is its rugged coastline, which boasts majestic cliffs, hidden coves, and picturesque beaches. You can take a leisurely stroll along the South West Coast Path and admire the breathtaking scenery, or head down to Trevaunance Cove for a swim or a surf lesson.

If you're interested in history, St. Agnes has plenty to offer as well. The village has a long mining heritage, and you can explore the remains of the local tin mines, which have been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can also visit St. Agnes Museum, which showcases the history and culture of the village and its surrounding area.
