Photos, information and travel guides for your stay.

Maastricht is a city and a municipality in the southeastern Netherlands. It is the capital and largest city of the province of Limburg. Maastricht is located on both sides of the Meuse, at the point where the river is joined by the Jeker. Mount Saint Peter (Sint-Pietersberg) is largely situated within the city's municipal borders. Maastricht is adjacent to the border with Belgium and is part of the Meuse-Rhine Euroregion, an international metropolis with a population of about 3.9 million, which includes the nearby German and Belgian cities of Aachen, Liège, and Hasselt.

As you wander through the city's cobblestone streets, you'll be transported back in time by the mix of Romanesque and Gothic architecture. Don't miss the opportunity to visit the Basilica of Saint Servatius, a beautiful Romanesque church that has been standing since the 4th century. You can also explore the medieval fortifications, such as the Helpoort Gate, which is the oldest city gate in the Netherlands.

Maastricht is also a foodie's paradise, with a variety of local specialties to sample. Try the famous Limburgse vlaai, a traditional pie made with seasonal fruit and a delicious crust. Or indulge in a plate of zoervleisj, a hearty beef stew that is a Limburg specialty.
