View Point Lake and Mountains

Annecy is the prefecture and largest city of the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of Southeastern France. It lies on the northern tip of Lake Annecy, 35 kilometres (22 mi) south of Geneva, Switzerland.

As you explore the town, you'll be struck by the stunning scenery at every turn. The Lac d'Annecy, one of the largest and cleanest lakes in Europe, is a popular spot for swimming, boating, and sunbathing. The surrounding mountains offer endless opportunities for hiking, skiing, and snowboarding. And the town's charming old town center, with its winding cobblestone streets and colorful houses, is a delight to explore on foot.

But Annecy isn't just about natural beauty—it's also a town with a rich history and culture. The Château d'Annecy, a restored castle dating back to the 12th century, is now a museum that chronicles the town's past. The Palais de l'Isle, a 12th-century island fortress in the middle of the Thiou river, has been used as a prison and courthouse over the centuries and is now a popular tourist attraction.
