Jinning District is one of seven districts of the prefecture-level city of Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province in Southwest China. The formation of the district was approved on November 24, 2016, after the dissolution of the former Jinning County (晋宁县) by the State Council. It is located at the southern tip of Dian Lake and is well known within China as the birthplace of Zheng He.
One of the most famous attractions in Jinning is the Jinning Old Street. The street is lined with traditional Taiwanese architecture and is filled with vendors selling local specialties such as oyster omelets, fried chicken, and pineapple cakes. Walking down the street, you can also see the famous Chihkan Tower and the Confucius Temple, which is one of the oldest and most well-preserved Confucius temples in Taiwan.
For nature lovers, Jinning is home to the Taijiang National Park, which is a wetland area that is home to a variety of migratory birds and marine life. You can take a boat tour to explore the park and learn more about the creatures that inhabit the area.
