Photos, information and travel guides for your stay.

Brecon is a market town in Powys, mid Wales. In 1841, it had a population of 5,701. The population in 2001 was 7,901, increasing to 8,250 at the 2011 census. Historically it was the county town of Brecknockshire (Breconshire); although its role as such was eclipsed with the formation of the County of Powys, it remains an important local centre. Brecon is the third-largest town in Powys, after Newtown and Ystradgynlais. It lies north of the Brecon Beacons mountain range, but is just within the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Brecon is known for its breathtaking landscapes and its proximity to the Brecon Beacons National Park, which is one of the prime attractions of the area. With over 500 square miles of unspoiled natural beauty, the park is a popular destination for hikers, bikers, and nature enthusiasts alike. You can explore the park on foot, by bike, or even on horseback, and discover some of the most stunning views in the UK.

If you're a history buff, Brecon has plenty to offer as well. The town has a rich heritage, and it's home to several historic buildings and sites. The Brecon Cathedral, for instance, is a must-visit for anyone interested in architecture and history. This magnificent structure dates back to the 11th century and is a fine example of Norman architecture. Other notable landmarks include the Brecknock Museum and Art Gallery, which showcases the history and culture of the region, and the Brecon Castle ruins, which offer a glimpse into the town's medieval past.
