Solin ist eine 23.926 Einwohner zählende Kleinstadt in der kroatischen Gespanschaft Split-Dalmatien. Der lateinische Name der Stadt (Salona) soll analog zu anderen Siedlungen in der Gegend mit der Endung -ona auf illyrische Bezeichnungen zurückgehen.
