Wallenhorst ist eine selbständige Gemeinde im Landkreis Osnabrück. Aufgrund der Gebietsreform im Jahr 1972 wurde durch den Zusammenschluss der bis dahin eigenständigen Gemeinden Wallenhorst, Hollage, Rulle und Lechtingen die heutige Gemeinde gebildet. Diese ehemaligen Gemeinden bilden heute die Ortsteile der Gemeinde Wallenhorst.
