Malchow ist eine Kleinstadt mit etwa 6000 Einwohnern im Süden von Mecklenburg-Vorpommern im Landkreis Mecklenburgische Seenplatte. Sie bildet für ihre Umgebung ein Unterzentrum und ist Verwaltungssitz des Amtes Malchow, dem weitere acht Gemeinden angehören. Seit 2005 gilt sie als Luftkurort, und 2011 erhielt sie den Namenszusatz „Inselstadt“, weil der historische Stadtkern auf einer Insel im Malchower See liegt.
