Staindrop is a village and civil parish in County Durham, England. It is situated approximately 6 miles (9.7 km) north east of Barnard Castle, on the A688 road. According to the 2011 UK census the population was 1,310, this includes the hamlets of Cleatlam and Killerby.

As you wander through the streets of Staindrop, you'll feel like you've stepped back in time. The village is home to some of the most well-preserved Georgian architecture in England, including the stunning Staindrop Castle. This 14th-century fortress was once the home of the powerful Neville family and is now open to the public for tours.

For those interested in history, Staindrop also boasts two beautiful churches. St Mary's Church dates back to the 12th century and features stunning stained glass windows and an impressive bell tower. Meanwhile, the Methodist Church is a testament to the village's strong non-conformist roots.
